The Flagstaff Eagles varsity basketball teams picked up a win in their Grand Canyon Region opener against Mingus at home Friday night. The Eagles girls squad was challenged by the Marauders through three quarters, but pulled away in the fourth to get a 75-57 win. On the boys side, Nick Sneezy led the Eagles with 15 points as Flagstaff beat Mingus 57-52. Dante Gabaldon scored 26 points in the loss. Flagstaff will be back in action Tuesday when they take on the Mohave Thunderbirds, before hosting the Pepsi Holiday Tournament next Thursday through Saturday.
