Flagstaff Gets A Record-Setting Win, While Coconino Loses A Heartbreaker On The Road Friday Night

The Coconino Panthers let a win slip through their fingers, and the Flagstaff Eagles dominated for their first win of the season Friday night. Eagles freshman quarterback Chase Brown made his first start of his career and all he did was set a new school record for most touchdowns in a game with six, as the Eagles cruised past Rio Rico 59-12 in the Skydome. Senior wide receiver Jake Wiedenger had three of Brown’s six touchdown catches and senior wide receiver Holden Sena had two touchdowns receiving, and scored on a 90-yard fumble return for a touchdown in the win. You can watch the record-setting performance on NFHSNetwork.com. Flagstaff will have a bye week next week. They will get ready for a tough Marcos de Niza Padres team the following week in Tempe. The Panthers scored two touchdowns in less than two minutes against the Arcadia Titans to start the game, but couldn’t put Arcadia away as they fell 27-21 on the road. The Panthers had a 21-0 lead, only to see Arcadia scored 27 unanswered points in the second half en route to the win. The Panthers fall to 1-1 on the season and will host the Poston Butte Broncos next Friday night.
