Flagstaff, Coconino and Prescott boys basketball teams will all be on the road Tuesday night in the first round of the 4A State Playoffs. The Coconino Panthers are the number-10 seed and they will travel to Surprise to take on the seventh-seeded Paradise Honors Panthers. The two teams played for the championship of the Flagstaff Pepsi Holiday Tournament back in December. Coconino played Paradise Honors tight, but fell 60-45. If Coconino wins they will either travel to number-two St. Mary’s, who they lost to in the 4A semifinals last year, or host #15 Pueblo Friday night. The 12th-seeded Flagstaff Eagles will travel to fourth-seeded Deer Valley to battle the Skyhawks. The Eagles fell to the Skyhawks, 56-34, January 5th in Flagstaff. The Eagles shot 27-percent in that game and Nick Morrow led the Eagles with 11 points. If the Eagles pull off the upset, they will either travel to fifth-seed Notre Dame Prep or number-12 Dysart Friday night. Number-11 Prescott will travel to Gilbert to take on number-six Mesquite Tuesday. The Badgers and Wildcats also played each other earlier this year. Mesquite beat Prescott, in Prescott, back on December 17th, 82-71. Prescott’s Jason Parent scored 41 in that game. If Prescott wins, they will either travel to number-three Peoria or host number-14 American Leadership Academy Queen Creek on Friday. All games start at 7 p.m. We will broadcast the Coconino-Paradise Honors game Tuesday night starting with the pregame show at 6:45 p.m. We will be following all Flagstaff hoops teams as they make their way through the playoffs, until their seasons come to an end.
