Flagstaff City Council Talks ParkFlag Changes Tuesday Night

The Flagstaff City Council held a special meeting and work session Tuesday evening. The special meeting was in regard to a proposed resolution to amend the comprehensive parking management program, or ParkFlag. The resolution would reduce the scope of ParkFlag and adjust the times it is enforced. ParkFlag brings in a lot of money for the city, profiting nearly a million dollars last year, about half went to more parking. ParkFlag revenue can only be used for parking management, but fines are paid to the municipal court, not ParkFlag. A goal of the resolution is to lower revenues, thus reducing expenses. Council discussed many proposed adjustments to the ordinance and numerous community members participated in the discussion. They will vote on the issue at a future council meeting. During the work session, the council discussed a state and federal legislative update and reviewed Public Works snow operations.
