A packed gym at Flagstaff High School witnessed the the Coconino Panthers and the Flagstaff Eagles girls and boys varsity basketball teams battle in Grand Canyon Region action. In the girls game, Flagstaff led from start to finish as they beat Coconino, 56-24. Emma Doskicz led the Eagles with 16 points, with four three-pointers. Flagstaff improves to 6-0 in Grand Canyon Region play. In the boys game Coconino had a lead for the majority of the game as they held off Flagstaff, 51-44. Brennan Motes led the Panthers with 14 points and Roy Billups had 13 in the win. Troy Yazzie led all-scorers with 26 points in the loss. It’s the second straight win for Coconino at Flagstaff High School. The Panthers take on Marcos de Niza at home Saturday. Flagstaff will host Lee Williams on Tuesday.
