Five new rainfall records were set as a wet July turns to August in the 2021 Monsoon season. The National Weather Service says new records were set in Payson, Show Low, St. Johns, Walnut Canyon National Monument and Tuzigoot National Monument. Flagstaff received 5.66 inches of rain in July, which is over three inches above normal and just under two inches off the record set in 2013. Prescott Love Field had 3.12 inches of rain, which was slightly above average and more than six-and-a-half inches of rain below the record set in 1950. We will see a drying trend this week, but the Monsoon will return to the forecast by Friday.
