Five Arrested After YCSO Deputy Finds Over A Million Dollars Worth Of Drugs During A Traffic Stop

Five people were arrested after a Yavapai County Sheriff’s K9 unit found nearly 30 pounds of cocaine in a vehicle during a traffic stop Monday in Ash Fork. A sheriff’s deputy pulled over a white mini-van at around 10:27 a.m. on eastbound Interstate-40 for moving and equipment violations. In the van were six people, including a two-year-old child. During a conversation with the driver and another passenger, the deputy got suspicious. He deployed his K9 “Vader” to smell around the van. “Vader” picked up a positive odor and the van was searched. Deputies found ten packages of cocaine and two packages of heroin in a compartment below the floor. Street value of the nearly 30 pounds of cocaine and five pounds of heroin was over a million dollars. Arrested were 47-year-old Robert Grant, 39-year-old Alton Deas, 54-year-old Ann Fairley, 19-year-old Natasia Anderson and 19-year-old Jerod Fairley, all from South Carolina. The boy was released to a relative from the Phoenix area. They all remain in the Yavapai County Jail on $250-thousand dollars bond each.
