Arizona has its first confirmed case of the Coronavirus. State Health Department Director Cara Christ says the patient is an adult who recently traveled to China, specifically visiting Wuhan, which is the epicenter of the outbreak. She says the patient was aware of the coronavirus outbreak and started having the same symptoms with what was being reported and contacted her doctor. Dr. Christ says the patient is part of the Arizona State University community. She says the patient has been experiencing mild symptoms of the virus and is isolated. Christ says if you haven’t traveled, or haven’t been in contact with a person with the virus then the risk of catching it is low. She says to make sure you wash your hands frequently, that you’re not touching your hands, nose or mouth and you are cleaning surfaces, especially since a person has respiratory symptoms. Coconino County health officials are monitoring the situation, but there have been no cases of the virus in the county. If you think you have the flu, stay home from work or school and contact your doctor.
