A Red Flag Warning has been issued for Friday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. for most of Northern Arizona, including Prescott and Prescott Valley. The National Weather Service says strong winds and low humidities are forecast for Friday, thus the reason for the warning. Winds are forecast to be southwest 15-to-25 miles-per-hour with gusts up to 35-to-40 miles-per-hour at times. The humidity is expected to be as low as seven percent. The combination of the two means if a fire starts, it could grow in size and intensity quickly before first responders can contain it. If you are traveling across Northern Arizona, make sure you don’t drag chains on the road if you are pulling a trailer and don’t toss cigarettes out of the window. Also if you see smoke in the forest, call it in.
