The Maroon Fire continues to burn east of Flagstaff. Coconino National Forest fire crews conducted burn outs through the weekend, even using air drops from drones during the process. The lightning-caused fire has burned five-thousand acres and is ten-percent contained. Smoke from the fire could reduce visibility on Leupp and forest service roads in the area. If you come across smoke, use caution and slow down if you are driving. Fire managers are using the fire to clear about 14-thousand acres of dead brush and fuel to limit the potential for a larger fire in the future. There are no structures being threatened by the Maroon Fire.
