Highlands Fire crews tended to a small fire early Saturday morning off Highway 89A. Crews were called to the Pumphouse Fire at around 6:45 a.m. in the area of Highway 89A and Pumphouse Wash. When the first crew arrived they found a fire at about a half-acre actively burning. Crews were able to stop the forward spread of the Pumphouse Fire quickly. The fire didn’t pose any threats to structures and was contained at around 11 a.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Remember: All of Arizona, including the Coconino National Forest, is under Stage One fire restrictions, which prohibits campfires and charcoal use in areas not in a controlled campground.
