Father Dies In A Creek In Rimrock Sunday After Hiking With His Six-Year-Old Son

A father died while he and his six-year-old son were hiking in Rimrock Sunday afternoon. Yavapai County Sheriff’s officials say deputies responded to a call at around 5:30 p.m. about a man who was unresponsive in a creek near Lawerence Crossing. The victim’s uncle told deputies that the 51-year-old and his six-year-old came up from Tucson to camp in the area for a couple of days. The uncle said that the victim called to say that he was lost and when he drove out to find him, he was face down in the water. During the preliminary investigation, the boy told detectives that the 51-year-old fell backward and couldn’t breathe. The incident is under investigation.
