Events To Remember The Granite Mountain Hotshots On The 11th Anniversary This Weekend

On June 30th, 2013, 19 members of the Granite Mountain Interagency Hotshot Crew lost their lives battling the Yarnell Hill Fire in Yarnell, Arizona. To remember the Granite Mountain Hotshots, the City of Prescott will have commemorative events and activities to mark the 11th anniversary. Granite Mountain Interagency Hotshot Crew Learning and Tribute Center will have its sixth birthday celebration on Saturday, June 29th at 11:30 a.m. During the celebration, comments from Prescott Fire Chief Holger Durre and Mayor Phil Goode with a performance by Central Arizona Pipe and Drum Corps. The Center is located at the Pine Ridge Marketplace. On Sunday, June 30th at 3:45 p.m., a dedication of the Granite Mountain Hotshots Memorial will take place at the Yavapai County Courthouse Plaza. The City of Prescott and Prescott Fire Department thank the committee who have worked for over 10 years on the memorial statue.
