There were two separate incidents involving wrong-way drivers on Interstate-17 over the past two days. According to DPS, the first incident took place Sunday morning at around 7:46 a.m. when a wrong-way driver was heading north in the southbound lane near the Highway 169 exit south of Camp Verde. A vehicle swerved to avoid colliding head-on with the wrong-way driver. The action caused the southbound driver to hit the guardrail. The wrong-way driver then turned around, got out and went to the other driver and began to yell. She also punched the car’s window. The driver went back to the car and continued driving the wrong way. State troopers reached the vehicle and pulled over 32-year-old Valena Nez of Phoenix. She was booked on charges of endangerment and DUI, as well as aggravated assault. The second case was Monday morning at around 2:13, where 23-year-old Dylana Allinger of Glendale was pulled over near Cordes Junction after driving northbound in the southbound lanes. She was booked on charges of endangerment and DUI.
