The Day 19 suspect in this year’s “Catch 22” program has been taken into custody in Ohio. On March 3rd, 2019, 29-year-old Ryan William Welch went to a home on the 600-block of La Paloma Lane. At the time, there was a court order in place that prohibited Welch from being at the home. After he arrived, he shattered the window with a rock, spraying glass in the female victim’s face, causing her to bleed. Welch threatened to kill an adult male victim, who was also inside the house. The male fired two shots from a handgun at Welch, as he feared for his safety and that of others in the home. Welch then went to a glass door in the back of the house and shattered that with a rock and entered the home with a large rock still in his hand. He threatened to kill them again. The male victim fired two more shots at Welch and then tackled him to the floor. Welch was taken to a hospital and was treated and released the next day. He was arrested by Prescott Police. Welch was arrested, without incident, in Columbus, Ohio on Tuesday. He is awaiting extradition back to Yavapai County.
