Cottonwood Police Seize Pounds Of Meth And Fentanyl

Cottonwood Police netted pounds of meth and fentanyl during recent interdiction operations in the area of Interstate-17 and Cornville Road back on May 10th. One of the traffic stops involved a 2005 Chevy Silverado for illegal tint and a brake light out. During the stop the driver, 28-year-old Erik Samuel Acosta and his passenger, 21-year-old Paul Arnold Garcia, both from Goodyear, were identified. K-9 Duke was deployed and alerted officers to the vehicle. A subsequent search revealed a white bag in the back of the pickup. Officers found around 55-thousand fentanyl pills, weighing about 14 pounds. The two were arrested for transporting dangerous drugs for sale, drug possession for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia. Soon after that stop, officers stopped a 2017 Dodge Charger for illegal tint. K-9 Otto was deployed and alerted the vehicle. A search uncovered a black gym bag containing around 29 pounds of meth and a dog food bag that contained around 11 pounds of meth. The officer also found a nine-millimeter handgun. Thirty-year-old Abisai Urias from Tucson was arrested on transporting of dangerous drugs, drug possession for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia. All arrested were booked into the Yavapai County Detention Center.
