A former teacher and coach in Cottonwood has been sentenced to 50 years in prison after he was found guilty on multiple counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. Forty-four-year-old Randy Scott Young was convicted earlier this year for charges dating back to 2012, when the staff of the school he worked at found “numerous photographs of child pornography” on his laptop. Young had also been reportedly caught with a young female at night in a remote location. Young later fled to Ireland after a local bicycle shop accused him of embezzling $20-thousand from the business. Young was brought back to Arizona and ultimately pled guilty in August to a slew of charges related to the crimes.
