A former airman, who was found guilty of killing a New Mexico woman and then leaving her body near Sunset Crater back in February, will find out about his sentence next month. A Coconino County Superior Court judge set a sentencing hearing Tuesday, for January 19th. Twenty-two-year-old Mark Gooch was found guilty of first-degree murder and kidnapping in October. Gooch kidnapped 27-year-old Sasha Krause on January 18th and took her to an area near Flagstaff. Gooch allegedly bound Krause and shot her in the back of the head and left her near Sunset Crater, where she was found by a camper. Gooch was arrested at Luke Air Force Base in April in connection with Krause’s disappearance and death. Gooch faces life in prison on the murder charge.
