Pipeline Fire Is Now 50-Percent Contained, Haywire Fire Is 40-Percent Contained

Fire crews work to gain further containment of the Pipeline and Haywire fires burning north of Flagstaff. Over 26-thousand acres have burned on the Pipeline Fire, with 50-percent containment. Over 56-hundred acres have burned on the Haywire Fire with 40-percent containment. Additional containment has been added to the Pipeline fire along the northern edge. Crews working along the Inner Basin Trail were able to hook water lines into a well head into Flagstaff‘s water supply over the weekend and will continue to monitor and improve the fireline along the western edge of the fire. Crews engaged in holding and improving constructed fireline as needed along the southern and eastern edges of the fire. Firefighters began vegetation removal and chipping operations along the northern edge of the fireline. A BAER soils team has been ordered for the Pipeline Fire. This team studies the soils after a fire to determine how severe flooding could be on a burn scar. They do other great work as well, but for current conditions, and with the Monsoon here, this is critical information. There are over 950 firefighters currently working the two fires.
