Both Arizona’s senators and Congressman Eli Crane are calling on Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona and Dignity Health’s Yavapai Regional Medical Center and Yavapai Regional Medical Group to forge forward on contract negotiations. Both Blue Cross and Blue Shield and Dignity Health sent notices to customers saying as of today, Yavapai Regional Medical Center would be considered out-of-network. In response Mark Kelly, Kyrsten Sinema and Eli Crane sent a letter to the companies saying, “we respectfully urge both parties to extend negotiations and allow impacted Blue Cross Blue Shield patients to maintain in-network coverage at Yavapai Regional Medical Center until an agreement is reached.” Yavapai County Board of Supervisors Chairman James Gregory is also urging both sides to continue negotiations saying, “this failure to come to an agreement will adversely affect thousands of Yavapai County residents.” Blue Cross Blue Shield released a statement earlier this week saying “there is an offer on the table that is already higher than most other providers in the state and we are hopeful that they (Dignity Health) will accept this offer.”
