Coconino’s Cooper French Wins Player Of The Week Honors After Record-Setting Game Versus Mingus

Coconino junior Cooper French was named one of the Week 10 Ed Doherty Award Nomination Medallion winners this week. The award comes after a game which saw the running back carry the ball 41 times for 354 yards and three touchdowns in Coconino’s 28-14 win over Mingus last Friday. French broke the single game school record in carries, once held by Casper Rice in 1978 with 37, and in yards in a single game, once held by David Quick with 340 set in 2018 versus Mohave. French is joined on the Week 10 list by junior quarterback Brendan Anderson from Mountain Ridge, senior wide receiver Grady Hickey from Chaparral, senior wide receiver/defensive back Javen Jacobs from Saguaro, junior linebacker Wyatt Milkovic from Basha and senior quarterback Will Weber from Sequoia Parkway. French is now eligible to win the Ed Doherty Trophy for the best high school football player in Arizona, which will be awarded at a luncheon in Phoenix December 18th. Coconino will travel to Prescott Valley to take on Bradshaw Mountain Friday night. We will have the game on KAFF Country 93.5/AM 930 starting with the pregame show at 6:30 p.m.
