Coconino Wins, Flagstaff Falls In Valley Friday Night

Both the Flagstaff Eagles and Coconino Panthers played games in the valley Friday night. After a scoreless first quarter, the Coconino Panthers got on the board first with a four-yard touchdown run by Cooper French to make it 7-0. Apache Junction scored with about a minute left on a touchdown run by Prospectors running back Isaiah Savioe. They would get the ball back on a pooch kick, but Coconino held strong, making the score 7-7 at halftime. Coconino scored on their first drive of the second half as Enoch Watson connected on a 35 yard touchdown to Bridger French to make it 14-7. Bridger would score again on a six yard run to make it 21-7 after three. Cooper French would score his second touchdown of the game, on a six yard run to make the score 28-7. AJ would score twice in the fourth, but the Panthers hung on for the 28-21 win. Coconino is back in Phoenix Friday to take on Northwest Christian. The Marcos de Niza Padres scored twice in the first quarter and never looked back as they beat the Flagstaff Eagles 30-12. Jake Weidinger had a pair of touchdown catches from Chase Brown in the loss. The Eagles will be back in the Skydome Friday to take on the Washington Rams.
