The Coconino Panthers got a big win to kick off their season at home against Blue Ridge, while the Flagstaff Eagles suffered a tough road loss in Winslow Friday night. The Panthers rushed for 407 yards and made it look easy with a 62-6 over the Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets, in the first-ever game between the two schools. Senior running back Cooper French had 131 yards on 13 carries and three touchdowns in the win. Ryker Patton scored twice and rushed for 98 yards and Quinn Mickelson rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown. Angelo Baca had two interceptions and the Panthers held Blue Ridge to 131 yards of total offense. Coconino travels to Arcadia next Friday to battle the Titans, who are 2-0 after their win Friday over Benjamin Franklin 14-9. The Flagstaff Eagles scored on the opening kickoff, but had trouble scoring the rest of way and couldn’t hold off Winslow as they fell to the Bulldogs for the second-straight season, 14-12. The Eagles will be back in the Skydome next Friday night to take on the Rio Rico Hawks, who are 1-0 on the season.
