The Coconino Panthers return a talented roster and it showed Friday night as they beat the Lee Williams Volunteers, 51-20 in Flagstaff. The Panthers outscored the Vols, 15-9 in the first quarter and led 27-13 at halftime. The Panthers were led by Amare Tom off the bench for 12 points and Manuel Cardoza had 11. Coconino smothered Lee Williams with a full court press for the second and third quarters to build their lead. Lee Williams was led by Marcell Thompson with six points and was held scoreless in the second half. Coconino will next play at Prescott against the Badgers on Tuesday. The Flagstaff Eagles also got a win in their season opener on the road in Cottonwood with a 41-40 win over Mingus.
