Coconino National Forest fire officials will conduct a trio of pile burns Sunday and Monday near Flagstaff, depending on weather conditions. Two burns associated with the Flagstaff Watershed Protection Project are located north of Flagstaff and consist of woody material left over from mechanical treatments in the area. Smoke will be visible in the Flagstaff area, including Doney Park and motorists along highways 180 and 89. The Dairy Springs pile burn will take place north of Mormon Lake. Winds will move the smoke from that burn toward the northeast and may impact Lake Mary Road and the community of Mormon Lake Village in the evening hours. For more information on prescribed burns, log onto the Coconino National Forest website.
