Coconino National Forest, Coconino County To Enter Stage One Fire Restrictions Thursday Morning

The Coconino National Forest and Coconino County will enter Stage One fire restrictions Thursday. The City of Flagstaff also announced its move to Stage One fire restrictions Thursday as well. They join the Tonto and Prescott national forests, along with Yavapai County and state and federal lands to enter in entry level restrictions. Stage One restrictions means campfires are prohibited, unless you are in a maintained campground. Smoking is prohibited, unless the person is in an enclosed vehicle or building or a developed recreation site. Also discharging a firearm, air rifle or gas gun is prohibited, however using a gun is allowed on the Coconino National Forest during restrictions, only if you are licensed to hunt. Restrictions will remain in place until the forests have ample enough moisture. Additional restrictions may be put in place if conditions warrant. For more information on fire restrictions, head to your local forest service website.
