Coconino High School was placed under shelter-in-place Tuesday. Flagstaff Unified School District officials say the school was under the shelter order for 15 minutes due to a “public safety issue” outside of the school building. The school continued to operate as usual while law enforcement was called to the scene. The shelter-in-place order was lifted a short time after police arrived. Flagstaff Police say a student from another school was outside the school handling a simulated switchblade. While it wasn’t sharp or dangerous, nobody knew for sure and the boy didn’t seem to be threatening anyone. Police took him into custody. There were no injuries reported.
