Coconino Boys Win, Girls Fall Monday Against Seton Catholic

The Coconino Panthers boys and girls basketball programs got back to regular season play Monday with the boys in Chandler against Seton Catholic, while the girls hosted the defending 4A state champion Sentinals. Coconino’s girl’s team went toe-to-toe against the Sentinals, trailing 15-10 after the first quarter. Then Seton put on the full-court press and the game got out of hand pretty quick. The Sentinals outscored Coconino 41-21 the rest of the way to beat the Panthers 56-31. Aubrae Laughter and Kaelin Lee each led the Panthers with eight points. Sasha Daniel and Amelie Cartegena combined for 31 points for Seton, led were by Daniels with 16. In the boys game, Coconino led start to finish and put out a great defensive effort to beat the Sentinals, 45-22. Rufus Cobb led the Panthers with ten points in the win. The girls will head to Shadow Mountain Tuesday night, while the boys will host the Matadors. We will have the game Tuesday night on KAFF Country 93.5/AM 930 and streaming at starting with the pregame show at 6:45 p.m.
