It wasn’t easy, but the Coconino Panthers beat the Lee Williams Volunteers Friday, 41-32 to win their ninth straight regular season game. Coming off a win at Greenway Thursday night, Coconino came out slow and sluggish, which is the way Lee Williams likes to play. The game went back and forth, with the Panthers leading at halftime 22-21. The two teams each scored six points in the third, with Coconino taking a one point lead into the fourth quarter. Rufus Cobb and Mitchell Jacobson each hit threes in the fourth quarter to carry the Panthers to the win. Jacobson led the Panthers with 12 points, while Cobb added 11 in the win. Wyatt Pickering led the Volunteers with 11. Coconino will next host the Prescott Badgers Tuesday night, with the lead in the Grand Canyon Region at stake. We will have the game on KAFF Country 93.5/AM 930 with the pregame show starting at 6:45 p.m. The Coconino girls team traveled to Kingman Friday to take on Lee Williams. The fell to the Volunteers, 43-33. The Flagstaff Eagles boys and girls beat Mingus in Cottonwood Friday night.
