A robbery suspect was arrested Friday afternoon after a search and a community alert was issued. Coconino County Sheriff’s officials received calls at around 2:25 p.m. about someone who was looking into vehicles on some properties in the Cosnino Road area north of Flagstaff. The man also knocked on a door and asked for gas before taking something from the neighbor’s porch. Deputies found the man, who was near a vehicle that was reported to be the suspects by callers. After short contact with him, he ran from the deputy and into a wooded area. The search began for the man, which included issuing a community alert. Investigators found out that the truck had been stolen out of Albuquerque. Before the alert was issued, deputies found that the suspect was picked up by a motorist and taken to Summit Fire Station 31. The person was acting strangely and fled the fire station. He was later found at a nearby residence in an outbuilding and was taken into custody after a brief struggle. He was taken to Flagstaff Medical Center for treatment. He’s been charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, among other charges. The suspect has not been identified and the case is under investigation.
