Local Animal Control authorities rescued over 60 dogs from a home last week in Prescott. The officer went to a home in the 700-block of Prescott Heights Drive on complaints of barking dogs and strong odors of feces coming from the property. A Prescott Police Animal Control officer was invited into the home and saw a large amount of small breed dogs inside. After talking with the owners, they told the officer there were overwhelmed by the amount of dogs they had on the property and wanted to surrender a portion of them. Yavapai Humane Society and Prescott Valley Police animal control officers were called to the home to help. A total of 62 small breed dogs were rescued from the property and taken to the Yavapai Humane Society where they will be placed up for adoption. All of the dogs were healthy at the time of rescue and there are no criminal charges pending in the matter.
