ADOT is planning for intermittent overnight full closures of State Route 89A near Pumphouse Wash Bridge in Oak Creek Canyon this week. The closure will be a three-mile section of 89A and will be closed beginning Monday night, 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. through Friday morning. The road will be closed intermittently to traffic through the switchbacks portion of the road, between Pumphouse Wash Bridge and Oak Creek Vista. The 15-minute, non-consecutive, full closures will occur twice per hour Monday through Friday. The restrictions are needed so crews can place traffic-control barriers on the roadway for the State Route 89A Oak Creek Canyon Improvements project, which includes rockfall mitigation, erosion control and a bridge rehabilitation. The right-turn lane on northbound State Route 89A at Pine Ridge Drive will also be closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday for crews to perform drainage and ditch maintenance.
