The Arizona Department of Transportation will begin improvements early this spring on State Route 89A in Oak Creek Canyon. Improvements to 89A will include rockfall mitigation, drainage and sediment control, and rehabilitation on the Pumphouse Wash Bridge. Highway 89A will remain open to traffic with the exception of occasional daytime and overnight closures. The roadway will be narrowed down to one lane with alternating traffic from north and southbound travel. Construction is expected to be completed by the fall on 2023. In the meantime, ADOT reminds drivers to slow down and use caution when driving near crews and equipment. For more information on this project, visit AZDOT.Gov/SR89A.
