A Portion Of The Coconino National Forest Will Temporarily Close Due To Increased Danger From Flash Flooding

A portion of the Coconino National Forest will temporarily close at 6 a.m. Saturday. Officials say an area surrounding Sycamore Creek, including Parsons Trailhead, Parsons Trail north, including Parson’s Spring, and the confluence of Sycamore Creek and the Verde River will be close due to increased risk of flash flooding. The risk increased due to post-fire debris that has gathered in Sycamore Creek due to last year’s Rafael Fire. Forest officials say the area will be closed until Monsoon rains decrease enough so the area can be safely reopened.
