A Cottonwood man called Yavapai County Sheriff’s officials Friday, nearly a day after he was shot. Deputies and EMS arrived at his home in Cottonwood and confirmed that he was suffering from a gunshot wound in his groin area and that the bullet traveled a short distance down his right thigh and was lodged there. The man said he had been out on Ogden Ranch Road Thursday and had come upon two men along the trail. He said he got out of his vehicle and one of the men shot him. He said he didn’t call for help because he initially thought the bullet had only grazed him, but the injury got worse throughout the night. The man was flown to Flagstaff Medical Center and after surgery he is in stable and good condition. Detectives are investigating the incident, but do not believe there is any threat to the public related to the case.
