$1.5 Million To Be Donated To NAU’s Martin-Springer Institute

Mitchell Raff established two planned gifts totaling $1.5 million to support Northern Arizona University’s Martin-Springer Institute (MSI). The MSI raises awareness of human rights through Holocaust embrace and education. Raff is the son of two Holocaust survivors, an author, and a nonprofit director. He established the endowment in memory of Holocaust survivors Sally and Issa Springer. They were relatives of the founders of MSI and played a formative role in Raff’s life. He said the Springers showed him unwavering kindness, compassion, and hope. After Issa died of metastatic colon cancer back in 2005, Raff figured out a way to pay back their love and support by establishing the $1 million Mitchell Raff Endowment for the Martin-Springer Institute in Memory of Sally and Issa Springer with the additional $500,000 to support MSI’s Holocaust education efforts. Raff’s gift will support the programming of the history, legacy, and memory of the Holocaust.
