A Phoenix man has been arrested after a routine traffic stop turned into a major drug bust Wednesday. Navajo County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit performed the traffic stop on State Route 87 just south of Winslow, where a Gila County Sheriff’s K-9 then assisted with the air sniff. The K-9 gave a positive alert, finding nearly 56-thousand suspected fentanyl pills and two grams of cocaine. Authorities say the street value of the drugs is nearly one-point-four-million dollars. The suspect, 31-year-old Edward Jose Tovar-Gonzalez has been booked into the Navajo County Jail for possession of narcotic drugs, possession of narcotic drugs for sale, and transportation of narcotic drugs.
