The Flagstaff Fire Department’s wildland fire crew will be busy with prescribed burns over the next two weeks. Four burns are on the schedule and could start at any time. Crews will burn about 100 acres in the area of Rogers Lake about 20 miles southeast of Flagstaff. They will also burn about 25 acres right next to the Flagstaff Airport as well as next to the Linwood Heights neighborhood in the northwest part of the city. Crews will also burn about 150 acres west of Flagstaff in the Observatory Mesa Natural Area. Smoke will be visible near the burns as crews clean out brush and dead trees from the forest areas surrounding Flagstaff.
