The Flagstaff Police Department is mourning the loss of one of their own. Officials say Officer Daniel Beckwith died from an apparent suicide in Mesa on Tuesday. Officer Beckwith had been with the Flagstaff Police Department since July of 2014. He had been on paid leave since June of 2018 and living in Mesa since then with his wife. Mesa Police were called to his home Tuesday on a report of a suicidal subject. When officers arrived they found Beckwith’s body in the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other people in the home when police arrived. The City of Flagstaff and the Flagstaff Police Department extends its deepest condolences to Officer Beckwith’s family and friends. Police would like to remind everyone there are resources available to anyone who may be contemplating suicide.
