The City of Flagstaff and the Hopi Tribe have partnered up to explore development of a 19-megawatt renewable energy project on Hopi lands outside of Flagstaff. City officials say the partnership is aimed at helping the city achieve its 100-percent renewable energy goal for all city government operations. The project will utilize a Power Purchase Agreement, which will require a developer to lease land from the Hopi Tribe and finance and build the project. The city would then buy renewable energy through the developer. The city plans to release a Request for Statements of Qualifications for developers by April of this year.
