There is an extortion scam affecting men in Flagstaff who use the dating app “Tinder.” NAU and Flagstaff Police say they have taken at least three reports referencing an internet extortion attempt. In each case, a male meets a woman on Tinder who wants to converse and chat using the app “Kik.” Once on Kik she asks the man to take a picture of their face and genitals and send them to her. Once he does, she demands between 300-and-400 dollars in iTunes gift cards or she will post them online. The victims have sent money and then she requests more. Police say Kik is a Canadian company and it’s very complicated to do investigations with foreign companies. Police say be careful with who you meet online and what you share between people.
