Flagstaff Fire crews were called to Lake Mary Tuesday to rescue a dog who had been in the area for some time. Officials say the dog was found Monday by members of the Northern Arizona Animal Search and Rescue team and attempted to help it. The dog was very scared and would not come to them. A dog crate was set to lure the dog safely in so they could take him from the back side of the dam. Water was flowing over the dam, but at the time wasn’t flowing quickly. The team checked on the dog Tuesday morning and it hadn’t gone into the crate. Fire crews came to the lake and placed food in the crate. The dog went into the crate and the door shut behind him. The dog appeared to be tired and cold, but in good health. He was taken to a local veterinarian for evaluation.
