A plan that was a long time in the making is finally going to be a reality for Flagstaff. The first hotel is being planned for the Flagstaff Airport area. The Flagstaff City Council unanimously voted Tuesday to sell 32 acres of land to GreenTree Hospitality. The company plans to build a hotel, conference center, restaurant and corporate headquarters on the land. The idea for this project was brought to the city council back in August of 2016. At the time, then Mayor Jerry Nabours told KAFF News the project would be a teaching hotel in conjunction with hotel and restaurant management students from NAU. The students would get on the job training. Another hope is the project could entice a second airline to come to Flagstaff. The project would be built north of J.W. Powell Boulevard and east of Pulliam Drive.
