After nearly three years working on a getting a new veteran’s home for Flagstaff, the city received some good news today. Mayor Coral Evans announced on Facebook that she received word from the Department of Veterans’ Services that the federal government will allocate funding needed to complete 52 projects on the Fiscal Year 2018 priority list. The Flagstaff home is number 52 on that list. The facility received state approval for ten-million dollars in 2016 and was waiting on the final 20-million dollar allocation from the federal government. The home will be built on eight acres of land on McMillan Mesa, just west of Coconino High School. The facility will be two-stories tall and hold a minimum of 60 beds. The home is sorely needed to treat veterans from all over Northern Arizona. More information on the timeline with the new home will be released in the coming days.
