Fire crews continue to battle the Horse Fire, which threatens the town of Crown King. The fire is now 21-percent contained and is burning through juniper and chaparral. Due to the fire’s remote location and rugged terrain, fire managers are relying on aircraft to suppress the fire. The Red Cross has opened a shelter at Mayer High School for those in the Crown King, Minnehaha and Horsethief Cabins areas who were given the “GO” evacuation order, who need a place to go. The last October fire that was recorded in the Prescott National Forest was back in 2007 where 630 acres burned. Officials say the fire was human caused.
