Cottonwood Police are looking for a man who allegedly tried to kidnap a 16-year-old girl Thursday afternoon. Officials say the female student reported to police that as she was walking home from American Heritage School at around 3:45 p.m., a man tried to abduct her. Police say the incident happened in the area of East Cherry Street and South 17th Street. The suspect asked the girl if she wanted to get into his vehicle and grabbed her, but she screamed. The suspect fled the scene. He is described as a dark-skinned male, possibly African-American, in his mid-30s with a muscular build. He had short hair and was diving a 1990’s to 2000 four door car similar to a Chevy Lumina. There is a noticeable scratch on the driver side door, the back seat is full of trash and possibly an out of state plate on the car.
