A Cottonwood man has been arrested for making plastic bottle bombs. Police say officers served a search warrant at the apartment of 60-year-old John Richard Wiles, located in the 700-block of East Mingus Avenue. On Tuesday, Wiles was seen on a surveillance camera at his former place of employment, setting off the plastic bombs in the parking lot. Investigators say the bombs were similar to those found in Cottonwood in late October last year, which is near Wiles’ apartment. He was arrested and booked on charges of manufacturing a prohibited weapon, misconduct involving a simulated explosive device, possession of meth and drug paraphernalia. He remains in the Yavapai County Jail on a 65-hundred dollar bond.
