A Cottonwood man was arrested last week after nearly hitting several people and cars in a parking lot and brandishing a gun at them. Cottonwood Police were called to the Food City parking lot in the 15-hundred block of East State Route 89A at around 11 p.m. Friday. As officers were pulling into the parking lot they saw a black passenger vehicle backing up quickly and then turned around and drove toward one of the exists and a patrol vehicle. Officers then stopped the vehicle, had their weapons drawn and the driver and a passenger were told to get out of the vehicle. The suspect was identified as 23-year-old Kurt Avci Slavik. Inside of Slavik’s 2002 Black Lincoln, officers found a 9mm semi-automatic handgun loaded with bullets in a magazine but none in the chamber. They also located a glass methamphetamine pipe in the center console. Slavik was charged with several felonies and several counts of misdemeanor endangerment. He was booked into the Yavapai County Detention Center and remains in custody on a $50-thousand bond.
