Coconino County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man Monday in Tusayan after he reportedly pointed a gun at people inside and outside of a local hotel. Officials say they got a call at around 3:57 p.m. saying 23-year-old Ezekiel Valenzuela pointed the gun at people at the Squire Inn. Further reports indicate several shots were fired, but no injuries were reported. Witnesses at the inn say Valenzuela and 20-year-old Reyna Munoz were in an altercation and bystanders attempted to step in and stop the exchange. After pointing the gun, Valenzuela left the area into the forest west of the hotel. He pointed the gun at an employee as he and Munoz were walking from the area. Both people are employees at Wendy’s and live in the town and were taken into custody at their home. Munoz told deputies she is the one who fired the gun after taking it from Valenzuela, but later deputies found out she actually didn’t. Both were booked into the Coconino County Jail in Flagstaff on multiple charges including aggravated assault, disorderly conduct with a deadly weapon, endangerment and providing false information to law enforcement.
