Coconino County health officials are looking into the possibility of the spread of Tick-Borne Relapsing Fever. Officials with the Coconino County Public Health Services District and the Flagstaff Unified School District say several students who went to Camp Colton from August 1st to August 3rd, tested positive for TBRF. Relapsing fever can have on and off again fever lasting several days. Along with fever, people can experience body aches, muscle pain, joint pain, headaches, nausea and other ailments. Camp Colton is closed temporarily for inspectors to look over the facilities. TBRF cannot be transmitted from one person to another, but if anyone who has been exposed to rats or ticks should seek medical attention.
